Sarah Mathews
Sarah Mathews is an astrophotographer, educator, and former space industry professional dedicated to making space exploration accessible to all. She is a contributor to Sky & Telescope magazine’s First Exposure column, where she helps new astrophotographers take their first steps in capturing the night sky.
Through her YouTube channel, Sarah Maths Astro, she helps photographers of all experience levels capture deep-space objects, the Moon, and celestial events. In addition to teaching astrophotography techniques, she shares insights into the celestial events and space science behind them, blending photography with a deeper understanding of the night sky. She sees astrophotography through a pale blue dot perspective, both as a technical and artistic pursuit that deepens our understanding of the universe and our place within it.
The Mission & Community
Astrophotography and science communication are rarely a solitary pursuit. The real work of processing, learning, and discovery happens together. I share my acquisition process, equipment tests, and deep-space tutorials across YouTube and Instagram.
